Tips for timed study blocks

  • Give every focus block one exam domain or objective. A topic per block keeps the log useful and stops random tab-hopping.
  • Use 25/5 for flashcards and short quizzes, 50/10 for reading docs or labs, and a 90-minute block to rehearse full mock-exam pacing.
  • Spend the short break away from the screen. Stand, drink water, then come back for the next block.
  • End each block by writing one thing you got wrong and why. Those notes become your last-week review list.
  • Four focus blocks of 25 minutes is about 100 minutes of real study — enough for a solid weekday session for most associate-level exams.
  • Pair the timer with the study plan generator so each day already knows which domains its blocks cover.

FAQ

What is a good study timer setting for certification exams?
Many learners start with 25 minutes of focus and a 5-minute break, with a longer 15-minute break after four blocks. For hands-on labs or long documentation, 50/10 often works better. Before exam day, try at least one 90-minute block to practise sitting through a full-length test.
Does this study timer save my data?
No. The timer and session log run entirely in your browser. Nothing is stored on our servers, and the log clears when you close the tab. Use Copy summary or Print to keep a record.
How many focus blocks should I do per day?
It depends on your exam date and weekly hours. Use the how-long-to-study calculator to estimate total hours, divide by your study days, then convert to blocks (a 25-minute block is about 0.4 hours of focus).
Can I use this for AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, CompTIA or Terraform exams?
Yes. The timer works for any exam. Type the domain or objective you are studying (for example AZ-900 governance or CKA networking) and the log groups your minutes by topic.
Is ExamPro affiliated with AWS, Microsoft, Google or CompTIA?
No. ExamPro Cert Prep is independent study material and is not affiliated with AWS, Microsoft, Google, CompTIA or any other exam vendor. Always follow the official exam guide.
